London, late 19th century. John Watson has just been discharged from the army for medical reasons and is looking for a place to live in the city. An old classmate introduces him to Sherlock Holmes, whose investigative methods pique the newcomer's interest. Holmes proposes that they share an apartment at 221B Baker Street, and Watson must decide whether he can live with a man who always seems to have his mind on his cases. Directed by Douglas Mackinnon, the episode alternates between that era and the present, and stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.
