The time has come for those who are different to stand together.

During a guided tour of the White House, a tourist separates from the group. Behind that disguise is Nightcrawler, a mutant capable of teleportation, who has come with the intention of killing the President of the United States. The attempt fails and he manages to escape, leaving behind a knife with a disturbing message: "Freedom for mutants now." Meanwhile, Logan, known as Wolverine, searches an abandoned military facility by Alkali Lake in Alberta, Canada. He looks for any clue about his past but finds nothing. The film is directed by Bryan Singer and stars Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, and Ian McKellen.

Trivia about X2

X2 opened with 85.6 million dollars in the United States and Canada on its opening weekend alone, playing in 3,749 theaters.

Although the first X-Men was shot in anamorphic format, cinematographer Newton Thomas Sigel opted for Super 35 for the sequel.

The first cut was rated R for the violence in the Logan scenes during Stryker's assault on the X-Mansion. Just a few seconds less were enough to earn a PG-13 rating.

John Ottman used a sample of Mozart's Requiem as the basis for the music in the Nightcrawler scenes.

New rewrites were commissioned to give more screen time to Halle Berry, following her success with Monster's Ball, which earned her the Oscar for Best Actress.

Filming used more than 64 sets across 38 locations, and Stryker's underground lair was built in a former Sears warehouse with over 96 kilometers of electrical cable.

Alan Cumming was Bryan Singer's first choice to play Nightcrawler, but was initially unavailable due to the lengthy preproduction period.

X2 won the Saturn Award for Best Science Fiction Film in 2004 and received seven other nominations at the awards, including for directing, screenplay, and music.

Quotes by X2

[After ripping off and throwing his dog tags at Stryker's feet] I'll take my chances with him.
[After stopping the X-Jet from crashing with his powers] When will these people learn how to fly?
I was piloting black-ops missions in the jungles of North Vietnam when you were suckin' on your mama's tit at Woodstock, Kelly. Don't lecture me about war. This already is a war.
