Witness the moment that will change our world.

Poland, 1944. In a Nazi extermination camp, a boy named Erik Lehnsherr is separated from his parents amid screams and shoving. In the chaos, he manages to bend a metal gate with only his mind, something that catches the attention of the German officers. One of them, the scientist Klaus Schmidt, takes an interest in the boy and brings him to his office. There he asks him to move a coin bearing a Nazi insignia that rests on his desk. Erik concentrates, but the coin doesn't move. Schmidt watches every gesture of the boy with a coldness that signals the danger of the situation. The movie is directed by Matthew Vaughn.

Trivia about X-Men: First Class

Vaughn had to hire five cinematographers. Only John Mathieson received sole credit, because he came on board midway through filming.

The movie includes 1,150 visual effects shots, divided among six companies.

Weta Digital named a Soviet cruiser Kresta III, a larger version of the Kresta I and II.

Instead of making Shaw grow to ten times his size, as in the comic, Digital Domain created an effect it called "kinetic echo."

Nicholas Hoult landed the role of Hank McCoy after traveling from Australia to the United Kingdom for a screen test with Matthew Vaughn and Jennifer Lawrence; he received confirmation a few days later, even though he believed the audition had gone badly.

Matthew Vaughn asked James McAvoy to test with every actor vying to play Magneto before deciding on the cast, to check the chemistry between the characters.

Michael Fassbender landed the role of Erik Lehnsherr after Vaughn saw him in an audition for another movie and felt he fit the character.

The movie grossed $352,616,690 worldwide and won 22 awards along with 40 nominations, according to IMDb records.
