Synopsis of Akame ga Kill!

Tatsumi leaves his village, which is suffering from famine, and travels to the Empire's capital with one clear goal: earning money for his family. Upon arriving, he finds a city where depravity has taken hold in every corner, ruled by a ruthless Prime Minister who manipulates the child Emperor at will. There, he comes into contact with Night Raid, a group of assassins who eliminate corrupt officials and privileged nobles without mercy. The conflict arises from the clash between Tatsumi's naivety and a rotten system he must learn to fight. Directing is handled by Tomoki Kobayashi, and the series airs on TOKYO MX.

«"If you can't find a reason to fight, then you shouldn't be fighting."»

Trivia about Akame ga Kill!

Production on the anime began while the manga was still being published. The team decided to conclude the TV adaptation and worked with ideas from the author Takahiro about the planned story development and ending.

Director Tomoki Kobayashi explained that the series included an original ending because the anime would have caught up with the manga, and that some decisions about the ending had already been set during planning.

Voice actress Sora Amamiya described Akame as a difficult role right up to the final episode, and also performed "Tsukiakari," the closing theme for the second half of the series.

The prequel manga Akame ga Kill! Zero, which focuses on Akame's past, was published between 2013 and 2019. There is also the spin-off Hinowa ga Crush!, set in the same universe.

There is no official announcement of a second season or a confirmed release date; the anime's original ending and the time since it aired make a direct continuation difficult.
