Synopsis of Doraemon

Doraemon is a cat-shaped robot who travels from the 22nd century to the present day with a mission: to help Nobita Nobi, a clumsy, naive and absent-minded ten-year-old boy, get his future on track. To do so, he relies on his gadgets, which Nobita constantly asks for to get out of trouble, though not always with the intended results. Shizuka Minamoto is Nobita's best friend and the girl he has a crush on. Takeshi Gōda, known as Gian, and Suneo Honekawa, who are sometimes kind, often take advantage of him and bully him. Each episode usually starts with a new request from the boy to the robot. The series airs on TV Asahi, was created by Fujiko F. Fujio, and its Doraemon is voiced by Nobuyo Ōyama.

Trivia about Doraemon

In the United States the series was set to air on the superstation WTBS, now TBS, but it never premiered for unknown reasons.
The second English version was produced in Singapore and aired on Channel i and Kids Central between 2002 and 2003 in that country.
The manga rights were lost when Nippon TeleMovie Productions, the studio behind the 1973 series, shut down on the same day the final episode aired.
In Asia the series is sometimes known as the Ōyama Edition (大山版), in honor of Nobuyo Ōyama, the actress who voices Doraemon in it.
The series ran for 26 years, with more than 1,787 episodes and 30 specials, making it the longest of the three animated series created to date.
Shin-Ei first tried to sell the rights to Yomiuri TV, where Juichi Sano developed a complete proposal, but the idea fell through because the network did not understand its direction.
On February 11, 1983, the series reached a 31.2% screen share in Japan, one of its highest documented audience figures.
After the series ended on March 25, 2005, the new adaptation began on April 15 with a completely new voice cast.
