Synopsis of Extraordinary Attorney Woo

Woo Young-woo is a lawyer on the autism spectrum who starts working at Hanbada, one of Seoul's major law firms. She has an IQ of 164, an outstanding photographic memory and a creative way of thinking, but her social skills are somewhat weak, and her colleagues find her way of communicating strange and awkward. Little by little, some of them, such as her mentor Jung Myung-seok, her former classmate Choi Soo-yeon or the employee Lee Joon-ho, adapt to her way of being as she learns the trade of a rookie lawyer. At the same time, she encounters people who discriminate against her and other people with disabilities. Directed by Yoo In-sik, the series aired on South Korean channel ENA between June 29 and August 18, 2022, and stars Park Eun-bin.

«My name is Woo Young-woo, whether it is read straight or flipped. Kayak, deed, rotator, noon, racecar, Woo Young-woo.»

Trivia about Extraordinary Attorney Woo

The third episode reached a 4.0% national audience rating and set a new ENA viewership record.

During the weeks of July 4 to 10 and July 11 to 17, 2022, it was the most-watched non-English title on Netflix worldwide.

Gimbap sales soared around the world, which is attributed to it being Young-woo's favorite food.

A 500-year-old zelkova tree from Changwon that appears in episodes 7 and 8 was designated a natural monument by the Cultural Heritage Administration.

According to Bloomberg, shares of production company AStory rose 82% thanks to the series' immediate success.

Park Eun-bin went back to the psychology textbook she had used in college and resolved not to imitate real people with autism.

The greeting between Young-woo and Geurami, which proved very popular with audiences, was taken by Joo Hyun-young from Big Bang's song "Last Farewell" and adapted with the help of Park Eun-bin.

A second season is still in development: AStory confirmed a contract with screenwriter Moon Ji-won, but has yet to officially announce the cast or a premiere date.
