Synopsis of Girl from Nowhere

Nanno is a smart, mysterious high school student who investigates the people around the private Thai schools where she studies. Her targets are classmates and teachers whose lies, secrets and hypocrisy remain hidden behind a respectable facade. Nanno easily recognizes the twisted attitudes of those around her and sometimes lies on purpose to provoke them and force out what they are trying to hide. She disappears from one school and turns up at another, but her mission to uncover what is hidden remains intact. The series, created by GMM Grammy and starring Chicha Amatayakul, airs on GMM 25 and Netflix.

Trivia about Girl from Nowhere

The series came from three proposals, and the one chosen was by Damisa Ongsiriwattana, founder of the agency SOUR Bangkok and a publicist.

The lead actress used Tomie, a Japanese horror manga featuring a succubus-like woman, as a reference for the series.

Chanya McClory was just starting to recover from the removal of a brain tumor a few days before auditioning for the role of Yuri.

Netflix released the full, uncensored version of the episodes at its global premiere, because in Thailand the series ranked number 1 on GMM 25.

After its Netflix premiere, the series reached number one on the most-watched lists in Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines, and entered the top 10 in countries such as Brazil.

During filming of the second season, Kitty Chicha was able to memorize all her lines even when she had only about ten minutes to shoot her scenes in an episode with a tight schedule.

The directors acknowledged that the series sparked controversy for depicting extreme revenge and violence, as well as addressing sexual harassment, bullying and teen pregnancy.

In 2021, Kitty Chicha proposed a possible third season in which Nanno would enroll as a new student at a production school, although at that time it depended on Netflix's approval.
