Synopsis of Happy Valley
In Halifax, West Yorkshire, lives Catherine Cawood, a divorced police sergeant and mother of two. Eight years have passed since her daughter's suicide, and Catherine is still trying to recover from that blow. Since then, she has been raising Ryan, the son her daughter had after being raped by Tommy Lee Royce. Her determination is to protect the boy and move forward while the past keeps weighing on her. Created by Sally Wainwright and starring Sarah Lancashire, the series airs on BBC One and places its lead in a world marked by drug use, where her job and personal life constantly intersect.
