The danger is real, but fear is a choice

A thousand years from now, humanity no longer lives on Earth but on Nova Prime, its new home after a series of catastrophes. General Cypher Raige returns from a long mission outside the planet, accompanied by his son Kitai, who dreams of following in his father's footsteps as a soldier. During the journey, the ship flies through an asteroid storm and ends up crashing on Earth, an unknown place where living creatures seem to have one goal: wiping out humans. Cypher is injured in the impact, so Kitai must venture alone into this hostile territory to locate the backup emergency beacon. As he moves forward, the boy will have to defend himself against highly evolved animals and his own fears.

Trivia about After Earth

Will Smith initially planned a multimedia franchise titled 1000 DT. It included TV series and animation, a video game, theme park attractions, comic books and even a social media platform.
The idea came about while Will Smith was watching the show I Shouldn't Be Alive with his brother-in-law Caleeb Pinkett. Originally, it wasn't a science fiction story but one about a father and son who crash their car in the mountains.
The film grossed $243.8 million at the box office on a budget of $130 million.
It was the first Sony film shot and released in digital 4K format. It was mainly filmed with the CineAlta F65 camera, which Sony launched in January 2012.
