Immersion

Danielle Flinders is a bio-mathematician with a distinctive personality who stays at a seaside hotel on the Normandy coast. There she meets James More, a British agent awaiting transfer to Somalia, where he intends to track down jihadist leaders. During their stay, the two form a friendship that gradually becomes something more. Their conversations revolve around her work on the deep ocean, research through which she believes she can offer ideas about life on other planets. Directed by Wim Wenders and starring Alicia Vikander and James McAvoy, the film places two people with very different professional missions in the same isolated place.
