Milk

Harvey Milk was the first openly gay politician elected to public office in the United States, and he was assassinated a year later. At age forty, tired of running from himself, Milk decides to come out and move to California with Scott Smith. Once there, he opens a business that soon becomes a gathering place for gay men in the neighborhood. Milk becomes their spokesman and, to defend their rights, does not hesitate to confront business leaders, unions and politicians. His courage inspires others to follow his lead. However, in his private life, he has a destructive romantic relationship with Jack Lira, an unstable young man who clings to him to survive.
