London, 1954. Reynolds Woodcock is a haute couture dressmaker who dresses high society, and his clients regard him as a genius who brings out the best in everyone through his designs. Daniel Day-Lewis brings this designer to life, whose brilliance coexists with an obsessive, controlling personality. His sister Cyril, played by Lesley Manville, runs the day-to-day operations of the fashion house and makes sure nothing distracts Reynolds from his work. He imposes strict order on everything around him, from schedules to how he treats those who work for him. But that balance begins to wobble when someone arrives who doesn't fit into his plans. Paul Thomas Anderson directs and writes this romantic drama.
