Selena

Based on a true story, this film follows the meteoric career of young Hispanic singer Selena Quintanilla-Perez, a music phenomenon who rose from a small town in Texas to become a star in the Latin music world. Discovered by her own father at the tender age of 10, her life becomes a constant whirlwind of family problems, including her secret marriage to her guitarist Chris Perez. Despite her short and tragic career, her popularity was extraordinary in Mexico and among Hispanic Americans, who witnessed her dazzling rise and her tragic death in 1995, when she was just 23 years old, at the hands of her biggest fan: the president of her fan club and personal secretary.
