In 1964, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., leading the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), receives the Nobel Peace Prize. However, the struggle is not over. In the states of the American South, Black citizens' right to vote is being undermined, and King sets out to launch a campaign to ensure that everyone has the same voting rights. Ava DuVernay directs this story, and David Oyelowo brings King to life. The story follows the leader on this campaign and the obstacles he faces along the way.
