Captain Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) wakes up with a start inside a commuter train in Chicago. Although all the other passengers seem to know him, he has absolutely no idea where he is or even who he is. The last thing he remembers is flying a helicopter on a mission in Iraq, but here he seems to be someone heading to work on an ordinary morning. But before he can do anything, a train approaches on the opposite track and a bomb explodes, apparently killing Colter and all the other passengers.
