Directed by Dave Green, the movie picks up one year after the battle against Shredder. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles still live in secret because they let Vern Fenwick take credit for the victory, and he is now known as The Hawk. One day, April O'Neil warns them that scientist Baxter Stockman is working for Shredder and is planning a scheme to break him out of prison. Shredder is set to be transferred to another prison along with Bebop and Rocksteady, and prison officer Casey Jones will guard the convoy. The brothers have to decide how to act before the transfer gets underway.

Trivia about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows

Dave Green began negotiating to direct the sequel in December 2014 and took over from Jonathan Liebesman, director of the first movie.
William Fichtner said he would return as Eric Sacks, but for unknown reasons did not appear in the final version of the movie.
Fred Armisen was initially cast to voice Krang, but shortly before the release Brad Garrett replaced him due to scheduling conflicts on his part.
In China, the movie was released in July, an unusual date for a Hollywood production, and grossed about 26.1 million dollars in two days.
