Written and directed by Martin McDonagh, the story is set on the eve of the 1973 coup in Chile. Chris and Lee, two veteran CIA agents played by John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell, receive a new direct order from their office chief, MJ. Their mission is to travel from the capital, Santiago de Chile, to the remote Easter Island. Surrounded by the monumental moai, the two partners must deal with ongoing conspiracies and the shadows of their pasts. The situation becomes even more complicated when Chris forms a bond with a pair of local rebel students, an unexpected connection that seriously endangers the agency's plans on the island.
