Synopsis of Ancient Aliens

Ancient Aliens is a documentary television series created by Kevin Burns and narrated by Robert Clotworthy, which airs on History. The series argues that in ancient times, beings from other worlds arrived on Earth and taught architecture, language, and technology to primitive humans. To support this idea, the show brings together researchers, writers, and UFO enthusiasts who link the Egyptian pyramids, Stonehenge, or Pumapunku to religious texts, myths, and legends. Each episode jumps from one site to another and presents every claim without critical analysis. Interviews, along with archival footage, give ancient history the feel of established fact.

Trivia about Ancient Aliens

The series drew 1,676 million viewers in late October 2010 and 2,034 million in mid-December, with the episode "Unexplained Structures."

Geologist Robert Schoch claimed that fragments of his interviews were sometimes inserted into finished episodes out of context.

Clips from every episode of the first season, including the pilot, were reused in later episodes through season 12, so some guests appear in later seasons.

In 2011, South Park parodied the series in the episode "A History Channel Thanksgiving."

The series returned to History in 2015, after the H2 channel was replaced by Viceland, having aired seasons four through seven on H2.

The COVID-19 pandemic halted production of the fifteenth season, which ended by airing the episodes that had already been completed; production resumed later, and the sixteenth season premiered in November 2020.

The spin-off Ancient Aliens: Origins, which premiered in October 2024, revisits mysteries covered during the first fifteen years of Ancient Aliens and brings together several of the franchise's regular experts.

The twenty-second season premiered on January 15, 2026 and consists of fifteen episodes; according to available information, a twenty-third season had not yet been officially announced.
