What Season 9 of Law & Order

Season nine keeps the show's formula. In New York, homicide detectives chase leads on the street until they track down a suspect, and then Manhattan prosecutors build the case and take it to court. Briscoe and Curtis investigate on the street, while McCoy and Carmichael handle the courtroom. Conflicts come from very different fronts: an adoptive family hiding secrets, a fertility clinic, a women's prison or a group of young fascists. McCoy also faces a delicate situation, as he could end up jailed for contempt if he refuses to reveal his source. The episodes move case by case and barely dwell on the personal lives of the leads.
