Synopsis of MythBusters

MythBusters is a science education show that aired on Discovery Channel and was filmed in the San Francisco Bay Area. It stars Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, special effects experts who work in Hyneman's shop. With the help of their team, they take urban legends, popular beliefs and pop culture claims and put them through the scientific method. Each test aims to find out whether the idea is true, and to do so they build devices, test materials and, when needed, travel to other locations. Savage and Hyneman form a comedy duo: Hyneman plays the serious man and Savage the comedian. The show's core conflict is simple: separating what works from what's just talk. The narration is provided by Robert Lee.

Trivia about MythBusters

Three members of Hyneman's team, Kari Byron, Tory Belleci and Scottie Chapman, formed a second team called the "Build Team" in season two.

The Buster crash test dummy was so badly damaged by bullets, explosions and fires that an entire episode was devoted to rebuilding him as "Buster 2.0."

When Kari Byron took maternity leave in the middle of 2009, Jessi Combs temporarily filled her spot on the Build Team.

In September 2016, Beyond announced an original series for Netflix, White Rabbit Project, starring Byron, Belleci and Imahara, which ran for one season of 10 episodes.

The revival of the series, hosted by Brian Louden and Jon Lung, premiered its first season, of 14 episodes, on November 15, 2017.

During the filming of "Knock Your Socks Off," an explosion of about 230 kilograms of ANFO broke windows and shook Esparto, California, on March 20, 2009; the team later informed local authorities.

"MythBusters" received eight Primetime Emmy nominations, including nods for Outstanding Structured Reality Program in 2014 and 2015.

By 2008, the series was drawing more than ten million weekly viewers worldwide and had become one of Discovery's most-watched shows.
