Mayday

Mayday is a Canadian documentary series that examines air disasters, near misses, hijackings and bombings that have marked the history of aviation. It was created by Bernard Vaillot and André Barro and has aired on Discovery Channel Canada since September 3, 2003, with narration by Stephen Bogaert. Each episode reconstructs the sequence of events that led to a disaster, combining dramatized scenes, computer animation and archival footage. The re-creations alternate with interviews with aviation experts, retired pilots and accident investigators, who explain how the emergency happened, how it was investigated and how it could have been prevented. In this way, each episode blends the account of the event with the technical and human explanation of what happened.
