What Season 1 of NYPD Blue

Detectives John Kelly and Andy Sipowicz work together out of the 15th Precinct in Manhattan. Sipowicz is the veteran partner, but he drinks heavily, both on the job and off duty, and his behavior makes it seem unlikely the partnership will last. Kelly genuinely cares about him, though he often loses patience with him. Sipowicz relentlessly presses gangster Alfonse Giardella, which threatens to land them in serious trouble with the mob. Kelly's personal life offers no relief either. He is going through a divorce from his wife, Laura, something he struggles to accept, and begins a relationship with Janice Licalsi, a uniformed officer whose father, also a cop, is on the payroll of mob boss Angelo Marino.
