Trivia about The Glory

Screenwriter Kim Eun-sook was initially inspired by a question from her teenage daughter: what would be more distressing, for her daughter to bully someone or to end up being a victim.

Yeom Hye-ran was the first casting choice for the role of the abused woman, a character the screenwriter wrote with her in mind.

The series received eight nominations at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards and won three: Best Drama, Best Actress for Song Hye-kyo, and Best Supporting Actress for Lim Ji-yeon.

On Rotten Tomatoes, 82% of the 112 reviews collected are positive, with an average rating of 7.6/10.

The violent scenes recalled a 2006 case in which a high school student was beaten and burned by her classmates over 20 days and ended up hospitalized for six weeks.

It debuted at No. 3 on Netflix's global weekly Top 10 in the non-English TV category, with 25.41 million hours viewed.

Director Ahn Gil-ho acknowledged that he had taken part in an incident of school violence as a teenager, after initially denying the allegations that surfaced on the day the second part of the series premiered.

Netflix kept Ahn Gil-ho's name in the series credits after the controversy over those school violence allegations.
