Trivia about Adolescence

Owen Cooper landed the role of Jamie Miller at age 13 with no prior professional experience. Casting director Shaheen Baig had considered 500 boys before settling on him.

Each one-hour episode was shot about 10 times, with two takes a day. Graham calculated that each one took three weeks in total.

The episodes were not filmed in chronological order. Cooper's first day on set was spent shooting episode 3.

Minsthorpe Community College, in South Elmsall, served as the location for the school scenes in episode 2, filmed over the course of one week.

The interior scenes of the police station were shot on a set built specifically at the Production Park facilities in South Kirkby to accommodate the one-take shooting style.

It became the most-watched streaming series in the United Kingdom in a single week, surpassing the record set by Fool Me Once in January 2024.

Owen Cooper won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series and became the youngest male winner in the history of the awards.

«Adolescence» was the second most-watched English-language series in Netflix history through August 2025, according to an update published during its awards campaign.
