Synopsis of Mr. Robot

Elliot Alderson is a young information security engineer who works at Allsafe, a New York cybersecurity firm. He suffers from social anxiety, clinical depression and dissociative identity disorder, and his way of thinking is colored by paranoia. To connect with people, he breaks into their computers, and in practice acts as a secret internet vigilante. An insurrectionist anarchist who calls himself Mr. Robot recruits him to join fsociety, a hacktivist group with an ambitious goal: wipe out all debt records by encrypting the financial data of E Corp, the largest conglomerate in the world. Created by Sam Esmail for USA Network, the series stars Rami Malek and features Christian Slater as Mr. Robot.

Trivia about Mr. Robot

Elliot's signature look came from a suggestion by Rami Malek, who proposed a black backpack and showed up on set in his own black hoodie. The costume designer then ordered 20 more, even though the garment had been discontinued for years.
Because the crew couldn't shut down Times Square, the scenes for the end of the first season were shot in the early morning hours just before the weekend of July 4, to capture the nearly empty area.
The visual effects company FuseFX worked on an episode of the third season, for which it used 40 shots stitched together to look like a single continuous take.
The exterior of the fsociety group's base of operations was filmed on Coney Island. Filming also took place at Silvercup Studios and Queens College.
Sam Esmail has said that Elliot is a "barely disguised version" of himself. Before creating the series, he spent about 15 years wanting to make a movie about hacker culture.
The first season set a Rotten Tomatoes record: it was the only show to receive perfect ratings for every episode of a season since the site began rating TV episodes.
The series was renewed for a fourth season before the third season finished airing, announced by USA Network in December 2017.
Rami Malek won the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for playing Elliot Alderson in 2016.
