Anja Savcic

From Sarajevo to Hollywood's Radar

Anja Savcic was born in Sarajevo in 1992. As a little girl, she fled the Balkan war with her family and ended up settling in Vancouver. That's where it all began.

Her first real chance in front of the camera was not a leading role surrounded by spotlights. It was a brief appearance on the series Fringe in 2009. But that shoot taught her that Canadian television was the perfect springboard to break into the American industry.

And she did it without looking back.

For years, she landed one-off roles in fast-paced shows like Supernatural or The Flash. Those were survival jobs as an actor. Back then, Savcic accepted any script that would let her learn the craft from inside a professional set.

Cynicism as a Work Tool

Her luck changed in 2017. Peter Farrelly cast her as Claire in the comedy Loudermilk. The role of a cynical, out-of-place young woman in an addiction support group let her show a deadpan style nobody had seen from her before.

The series became a cult phenomenon years after its premiere thanks to its distribution on global streaming platforms. Savcic shot 30 episodes of this show and managed to keep up with veterans of the caliber of Ron Livingston when it came to comedic timing.

It was her real school.

Before wrapping that project, she was already looking for something darker. So in 2021, she accepted the role of Scarlet Leyendecker in Big Sky. In this ABC thriller, she moved away from comedy to play a woman trapped in a toxic relationship with a serial killer.

Her bet on drama paid off.

Production and New Horizons

Savcic doesn't wait around for the phone to ring. In 2022, she joined the cast of Family Law to play a lawyer with a complicated past. But her interest began to shift toward the creative control of projects and how preproduction works.

In 2024, she joined the cast of the movie Ricky Stanicky alongside Zac Efron and John Cena. Filming took place in Melbourne and marked her return to big-budget comedy under Farrelly's direction. The production had an estimated budget of $50 million.

The industry sees her as a safe bet.

Despite her media exposure, she maintains a stable home base in Vancouver. In 2025, her name became linked to independent production projects where she seeks a voice in the final cut. The distribution deal for her latest film was closed through a private agency in Los Angeles.
