From Chicago to the Runways of Cuatro

Paloma Bloyd was born in Chicago in 1988, and that cultural duality shaped her approach to acting from the very beginning. Her first introduction to the Spanish public came in 2007 through the show Supermodelo. That media exposure was a double-edged sword: it gave her visibility, but it also saddled her with the stigma of the pretty face who tries to act.

Many people thought her ceiling would be advertising or trend magazines.

But Bloyd had other plans and chose to train at prestigious schools in both the United States and Spain. In 2010, she landed her first roles in series such as El internado and Doctor Mateo. They weren't substantial parts, but they taught her the rhythms of a professional set in Madrid.

Television doesn't forgive major mistakes.

The Leap to Film and an International Adventure

In 2012, she worked on the shoot of The Cold Light of Day alongside Bruce Willis and Henry Cavill. It was an international production shot largely in Spain, where she played a supporting role. The experience confirmed that her command of English was a real competitive advantage in an increasingly globalized market.

Two years later, in 2014, she landed the role that put her on the national box office map. She starred in Sorry If I Call You Love as Niki in the adaptation of Federico Moccia's novel. The film grossed nearly two million euros in its first few weeks and established her as a face capable of carrying a big-budget commercial production.

Then came the opportunity from San Genaro.

In 2017, she joined the cast of Cuéntame cómo pasó to bring Deborah Stern to life. What began as a supporting role grew into a six-year run. Her character brought an outside, modern perspective to the Alcántara family and gave the actress a dramatic arc that ranged from culture clash to motherhood and marital crisis.

English-Language Shoots and the End of an Era

During her time on Spain's longest-running series, she never stopped exploring other genre projects. In 2023, she premiered Little Mouth (a psychological thriller originally shot in English), where she shared the bill with Isabelle Fuhrman. These independent productions are the kind that tend to interest the actress when she wants to step away from the conventions of mainstream television.

The departure of Cuéntame cómo pasó in 2023 marked the end of a professional cycle of nearly seven consecutive seasons.

Bloyd has always kept a low profile in the celebrity press, focusing instead on her technical training and work ethic. In 2024, she maintains residences spread across several locations for production reasons. Filming for her most recent movie in the United Kingdom was completed over six weeks of intensive outdoor shooting.
