Love never dies.

In 1897, Jonathan Harker has just qualified as a lawyer and receives an assignment that forces him to leave England. He must travel to Transylvania so that Count Dracula can sign the papers for some properties he has just purchased in London. The young man sets off convinced that it is a simple formality, unaware of what awaits him. Upon arriving at the castle, he discovers that his host lives in isolation and that his customs are strange. Francis Ford Coppola directs the film, Keanu Reeves plays Harker and Gary Oldman brings the Count to life.

Trivia about Bram Stoker's Dracula

Coppola shot the film on soundstages to avoid problems with bad weather, determined to finish on time and within budget after the delays on Apocalypse Now and One from the Heart.
Coppola fired the visual effects team, who told him that what he wanted was impossible without digital technology, and replaced them with his son Roman Coppola.
It is the only Dracula adaptation to win Oscars, and it is also considered the first vampire film to achieve that.
For the elderly Dracula, Oldman spent nearly seven hours in the makeup chair, and then another hour and a half taking it off after ten hours of filming.

Quotes by Bram Stoker's Dracula

  • Welcome to my home. Enter freely of your own will, and leave some of the happiness you bring.
  • Contrary to some beliefs, the vampire, like any other night creature, can move about by day - though it is not his natural time, and his powers are weak. (Dracula emerges from a box of earth in his younger form)
  • A land beyond a great vast forest, surrounded by majestic mountains and lush vineyards and flowers of such frailty and beauty as to be found no where else.
  • (to Mina) Is your ambitious John Harker forcing you to learn that ridiculous machine? When he could be forcing you to perform unspeakable acts of desperate passion on the parlour floor!
  • I think strange things which I dare not confess to my own soul. The Count, the way he looked at Mina's picture, fills me with dread - as if I have a part to play in a story that is not known to me.
  • Girl in carriage: Pentru că morții umblă repede.
