Year 2001. Steve Jobs (Ashton Kutcher) introduces the iPod at an Apple Campus meeting. The film then flashes back to 1974, when Jobs is a student at Reed College. He has already dropped out because tuition is too expensive, but he wants to keep learning. With the approval of Dean Jack Dudman (James Woods), who has taken him under his wing, he attends classes as an auditor. Jobs is especially interested in a calligraphy course. His status on campus is ambiguous: he is not allowed to take exams or earn a degree, and yet he moves between classrooms and classmates as if he belonged there.

Trivia about Jobs

Ashton Kutcher lost between six and nine kilos to play Steve Jobs and copied his fruit-based diet. That diet caused a pancreatic problem that landed him in the hospital two days before filming began.
The working title was jOBS, mimicking the way Apple names its products with a lowercase i. The idea drew criticism for straying from the design aesthetic that Steve Jobs cultivated.
According to The Verge, Steve Wozniak was invited to advise on the film but turned down the position after reading the script, saying that he and his wife found it detestable.
With a budget of $12 million, the film grossed $42.1 million worldwide, a figure that makes it a modest box office hit.
