From nobody to hero.

In Edge City, Stanley Ipkiss is a shy, timid bank clerk whom almost everyone treats with contempt, from his boss to his landlady. His only real friend is Charlie Schumaker, a coworker who tries to pull him out of his routine and invites him to a night at the Coco Bongo to see if he finally snaps out of it. Stanley wants someone to take him seriously, but his daily life is a string of humiliations and small failures. Directed by Chuck Russell, the movie relies on Jim Carrey, who brings this clumsy, spineless man to life. Then an unknown woman walks into the bank with a pretext, and Stanley's life takes a turn he doesn't see coming.

Trivia about The Mask: Animated Series

Chuck Russell's first choice to play Tina was Anna Nicole Smith, but she dropped out at the last minute to appear in The Naked Gun 33: From the Files of Police Squad! / 1/3: The Final Insult.

Carrey shot while sick with the flu. According to producer Bob Engelman, the actor vomited between takes, and the crew had to pull him out of his trailer to keep shooting.

According to Chuck Russell, the ILM team calculated that Carrey's work saved the production around one million dollars in effects.

The character's false teeth were meant for the scenes without dialogue, but Carrey learned to wear them while speaking to make his performance more convincing.

Relative to its budget, it was the most profitable comic book movie in history until 2019, when Joker surpassed it.

An early draft by Mark Verheiden included cameos by critics Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert, who broke the fourth wall.

After the success, the video game magazine Nintendo Power held a contest among its readers for a cameo in the sequel, but Carrey ultimately dropped the project.

Cameron Diaz landed the role of Tina Carlyle just seven days before filming began, after auditioning twelve times. «The Mask» was her film debut.

Quotes by The Mask

Ssssssssssssssssssssssssssmokin!
50 grand. 50 grand to the man who finds that green-faced son of a bitch before the cops do. I want you to get the word out to every street hustler, to every lowlife in this town. I want him in here tomorrow, alive. You still here? Come on, let's go!
Do you know how hard it is to find a decent man in this town ? Most of them think monogamy is some kind of wood!
[sees Tina enter; to Stanley] Hold the phone. Killer at ten o'clock.
It's party time! P-A-R-T-whY? Because I gotta!
I'm just an ex-employee, who's come for his back pay. Or should I say, PAYBACK!
