Marie Antoinette

The Austrian archduchess Marie Antoinette is fourteen years old and lives in Austria under the authority of her mother, Empress Maria Theresa. Her marriage to Louis, heir to the French throne, is meant to unite the two countries, so the young girl barely has a say in the matter. Before setting out, she must say goodbye to her family and friends and hand over nearly all of her belongings. Upon arriving at Versailles, she finds a palace of luxury and ceremony she knows nothing about. Her husband is still a teenager, and the court watches her every move with suspicion. Marie Antoinette has to learn rules she did not choose and adapt to a world where every gesture is judged in public.
