Synopsis of I Am Not an Animal

At the Vivi-Sec UK laboratory, six animals take part in the fourth batch of Project S, an experiment designed to create animals capable of speech. They live a life of luxury in something resembling a four-star hotel, run by computers. Each has a human personality, a name of their own and clothing designed especially for them. They speak in a pseudo-intellectual tone, eat gourmet meals, drink fine wines and read books and magazines. They are unaware that they are part of a scientific experiment. Meanwhile, the other animals outside Project S suffer torture. The series explores the contrast between the comfort of its protagonists and the cruelty around them, a gap they fail to notice. The animated comedy airs on BBC Two and was created by Peter Baynham.
