Synopsis of The Boys Presents: Diabolical

Diabolical is an animated anthology of eight short films set in the universe of The Boys. Each episode is a standalone story with its own animation style, and the tones range from comedic to dramatic. Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Simon Racioppa created it, and Amazon Prime Video airs it. The voice cast includes Antony Starr, Chris Diamantopoulos, Ben Schwartz and Grey DeLisle. The pieces tell parallel stories within that superhero world without following the plot of the live-action series. Each short features its own characters and a distinct conflict, and the collection spans a range of storytelling and drawing styles.

«Eight stories that give heroes a bad name.»

Trivia about The Boys Presents: Diabolical

The idea came about during the COVID-19 pandemic. Because live-action productions were restricted, the producers opted for an animated anthology to fill the gap until the third season.
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the series' executive producers, compared it to The Animatrix when it was announced at the CCXP Worlds 2021 panel for Prime Video in Brazil.
Simon Pegg voiced Hughie Campbell, a role they are always associated with. They couldn't play him in live action because they had aged too much by the time the series was produced.
Although the entire lineup was announced as canon, Eric Kripke clarified that the production team considered only a handful of episodes canon.
In October 2025, Kripke said he didn't think there would be a second season.
Each episode had its own writer, director, animation studio and soundtrack; Titmouse coordinated pre-production, designs and post-production, with studios in the Philippines, Mexico, France, Korea and Japan.
The episode "One Plus One Equals Two," written by Simon Racioppa and directed by Giancarlo Volpe, was conceived as a prequel centered on Homelander during his first days at Vought.
"Jon and Sun-Hee" featured animation, voice actors and a composer from Korea; the studio Edge Animation produced the episode, and Youn Yuh-jung and Randall Duk Kim took part.
