Michael Finkel (Jonah Hill) is a New York Times journalist who works in New York. His superiors ask him to explain a cover story he wrote for the paper's magazine, in which he used a composite character as the backbone of the story, something that goes against the newspaper's rules. While he tries to defend his work, he receives news that leaves him speechless: in Mexico, a man posing as him has been arrested. It is Christian Longo (James Franco), a man from Oregon whom the FBI is looking for. The film is directed by Rupert Goold, who makes his directing debut here.
