Synopsis of Atlanta

Atlanta is an American series on FX created and starring Donald Glover. Earn is a bright but unmotivated young man from Atlanta who dropped out of Princeton University and has lost his money and his home. He divides his time between his parents' house and the home of his ex-girlfriend Van, mother of his daughter Lottie, as he tries to win back the trust of all of them. His cousin Alfred raps under the stage name Paper Boi and is starting to come close to fame on the local hip hop scene. Earn realizes his cousin is about to become a star and decides to get involved in his career. The series explores that scene, which is presented as strange and almost otherworldly, while family, debt and the drive to get ahead weigh on the two cousins.

Trivia about Atlanta

The series stands out for having a writers' room made up entirely of Black writers, something almost unprecedented in American television.

Filming for the third and fourth seasons began in London in April 2021, with additional shooting in Amsterdam and Paris.

The Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series was the first of its kind awarded to a Black director.

In 2019, The Guardian ranked the series tenth on its list of the 100 greatest TV series of the 21st century.

Liam Neeson and Soulja Boy appear in the series in reference, respectively, to his controversial comments from 2019 and to his "Crank That" dance.

Glover, who grew up in Atlanta, said the city influenced the series' tone.
