Synopsis of Death Note

Light Yagami is a Japanese student who finds a supernatural notebook called Death Note. Anyone who writes a person's name in its pages while picturing their face causes that person's death. Light decides to use this power to create a world without evil and eliminate criminals. His plans clash with L, a famous private detective who sets out to solve the mystery behind these deaths. The series thus presents a battle between two different ideas of justice. Based on the manga by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, it airs on the Japanese network Nippon Television, and it is directed by Tetsurō Araki.

«The human whose name is written in this note shall die.»

Trivia about Death Note

Tetsurō Araki literally asked to join the production team after discovering the project, and he insisted that Toshiki Inoue write the scripts.
The series was one of the winners of the Best Anime for Television award at the 2007 Tokyo International Anime Fair.
It was set to premiere in Canada on September 7, 2007, on YTV's block, but it was pulled from the schedule at the last minute. Its North American premiere came on Adult Swim on October 20, 2007.
The series' popularity inspired a second TV movie, Death Note: Relight 2: L's Successors, released almost a year after the first feature film.
The theme "Misa's Song," performed by Aya Hirano, Misa's voice actress, plays as an insert in episode 25.
The final episode reached a 6.4% domestic audience rating in Japan, the highest figure of the entire 37-episode run, according to available tracking data.
Mamoru Miyano won the Best Actor award at the 2008 Seiyu Awards for playing Light Yagami, making him the youngest male winner in that category at the time.
The series received two wins and one nomination on IMDb, although the profile does not specify in those results which awards correspond to each honor.
