Shin'ichi Izumi is seventeen years old and lives with his parents in a quiet neighborhood in Japan, expecting nothing out of the ordinary. One night, wormlike creatures called parasites appear on Earth and invade human brains through the ear, the nose, or other routes. One of them tries to sneak into Shin'ichi's nose while he sleeps, but the boy wakes up in time, and the parasite ends up lodged in his arm. This organism, which the protagonist names Migi, keeps its brain intact, and the two are forced to coexist. Shin'ichi must face other parasites that see humans as simple food. Based on the manga by Hitoshi Iwaaki, the series airs on Nippon TV.
