Synopsis of The A-Team

In 1972, four of the best men in a U.S. Army unit are convicted of a crime they didn't commit and sent to prison. They escape shortly after. Years later, they're still wanted by the government and make a living as soldiers of fortune in Los Angeles, led by Colonel John "Hannibal" Smith, played by George Peppard, alongside Lieutenant Templeton "Faceman" Peck, Sergeant B. A. Baracus and Captain H. M. "Howling Mad" Murdock. When an honest person is extorted by a loan shark, a con artist or a local strongman and the police can't or won't help, they turn to the team. Before taking the case, the team tests the client to make sure they aren't an undercover agent. Meanwhile, their goal is to clear their names. Created by Frank Lupo and Stephen J. Cannell, the series airs on NBC.

Trivia about The A-Team

The role of Face was written with Dirk Benedict in mind, but NBC insisted that another actor play it.
According to Mr. T, the role of B. A. Baracus was written specifically for him.
In France it aired under the title L'Agence tous risques, and in Italy it was a huge hit in the mid-1980s and throughout the 1990s.
The first regular episode drew 26.4% of the television audience and ranked fourth among the ten most-watched shows according to Nielsen.
The series received three Emmy Award nominations, in 1983, 1984 and 1987, all in sound categories.
In November 1986, NBC canceled the series and did not order the final nine episodes of a season that would have had 22.
Tim Dunigan played Face in the pilot episode, but he was replaced by Dirk Benedict because producers felt he looked too young and tall for a Vietnam War veteran.
Three cast members had prior military experience: George Peppard served in the Marines, Eddie Velez served in the Air Force and Mr. T was an Army military police officer.
