Synopsis of My Love from the Star

Do Min-joon is an alien who landed in Gangwon Province in 1609, during the Joseon Dynasty, and has since lived among humans with an almost identical appearance and extraordinary abilities. For four centuries he has been waiting for his planet to send someone to rescue him, and now he has only three months left on Earth. His peace is shattered when his neighbor, Cheon Song-yi, a famous and haughty actress, enters his life. Min-joon feels contempt for her, but soon senses that something serious could happen to her. Determined to protect her, he will have to choose between staying hidden and risking his only chance to return home. The series was written by Park Ji-eun, directed by Jang Tae-yoo, and airs on SBS. It stars Jeon Ji-hyun and Kim Soo-hyun.

Trivia about My Love from the Star

To recreate the lead character's time-stopping power, the crew used 60 special miniature cameras for the visual effects scenes.

Episode 14, scheduled for January 30, 2014, was delayed, and SBS aired Secretly, Greatly, starring Kim Soo-hyun, in its place.

The production company planned for 20 episodes but added one more due to viewer demand, and the series ended with 21.

In February 2014, a Gallup Korea poll ranked it Korea's favorite show with 11.5% of the vote, displacing Infinite Challenge.

In China it aired with a different ending because the government censors works that feature aliens and supernatural beings.

A luggage company saw its sales in China grow after Kim Soo-hyun carried one of its backpacks.

At the 50th Baeksang Arts Awards, Jun Ji-hyun won the Grand Prize for television and Kim Soo-hyun received the award for Most Popular Television Actor; the series took home three awards out of nine nominations.

The series was accused of plagiarism, and HB Entertainment, its production company, faced a lawsuit that was settled after the company denied the allegations.
