Trivia about Saint Seiya

The series averaged a 11% audience rating during its nearly three years on air and ended in April 1989, because the adaptation had caught up with the published manga story, and the team was worn out.
In 1987, Saint Seiya won Animage's 10th Anime Grand Prix, an award decided by a reader vote.
In 1987, the series led Toei Animation's royalty revenue, although sales dropped considerably during the 1988 Christmas merchandise campaign.
The anime adaptation began airing shortly after the manga serialization started and was sponsored by Bandai. It aired in the Saturday slot at 19:00 on TV Asahi.
