Synopsis of The Tom and Jerry Show

Tom the cat and Jerry the mouse stop being enemies in this Hanna-Barbera series, created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera and aired on ABC. The two share a home and get along, which sets them apart from their earlier versions. In most episodes, each faces different household mishaps, takes on different jobs, and has to deal with Spike the dog. The production drops the slapstick chases and the violence of theatrical shorts, because at the time there was debate over whether that kind of material was suitable for children's programming. As a result, the humor relies on everyday situations and the coexistence of the main characters, who get into trouble without hurting one another.
