Synopsis of Darkwing Duck

In the fictional city of St. Canard, crime never takes a break. Drake Mallard, an ordinary duck who lives in a suburban house, decides to fight it as Darkwing, a superhero who protects the city without anyone knowing who he is. To do so, he relies on Joe McQuack, his sidekick and pilot, who comes from the series DuckTales. At home, he raises Gosalyn, his adopted daughter, whom he must keep out of his mission, though not very successfully. Next door lives the Muddlefoot family, as scatterbrained as they are baffling. Darkwing struggles to balance his thirst for fame and attention with his desire to be a good father and do good in St. Canard. The series was created by Tad Stones and aired on ABC, Disney Channel and in the syndicated block The Disney Afternoon.

Trivia about Darkwing Duck

The series began as a last-minute replacement for a reboot project of The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show, with concept work by Michael Peraza, because Disney did not own the rights to the characters.
The nickname The Masked Mallard, taken from an episode of DuckTales, was often used in the series to refer to Darkwing himself.
The title Double-O Duck could not be used because the Broccoli family owned the "double-o" title, an idea an executive had liked as a parody of James Bond.
While most earlier Disney Afternoon series reused previously animated characters, Darkwing Duck featured a completely original cast with no equivalents in Disney's early shorts.
The first season has a 83% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 6 reviews, with an average rating of 7.00/10.
IGN ranked Darkwing Duck as the 93th Best Animated Series, and its theme song, performed by Jeff Pescetto, is among the best of all time according to TVLine.
Disney+ has greenlit a new animated series based on "Darkwing Duck," currently in production, with Mark Hamill as Darkwing, Seth Rogen as Launchpad McQuack and Lizzy Caplan as Gosalyn; no premiere date has been announced yet.
