You have to believe...

Directed by Rob Cohen and starring Dennis Quaid, the film opens with the knight Bowen teaching young Prince Einol the Ancient Code, a set of honor rules with which he hopes to shape a noble, intelligent and just ruler. His lesson is interrupted when a message arrives from King Freyne: the monarch is about to attack a village right now. Einol rushes to that battle, the very one he meant to stop his cruel father from waging, and is wounded. Meanwhile, the kingdom lives between the order imposed by the king and the peasant rebellion that defies him.

Trivia about DragonHeart

The film grossed $115 million at the box office against a budget of $57 million.

Dragonheart was the first film to use ILM's Caricature software, developed to synchronize Draco's lips with the voice of Sean Connery.

Johnson wanted to give Sean Connery's voice an "animalistic" quality, with deep rumbles and vocabulary that didn't sound entirely human, according to his own approach to the character.

Universal turned down Kenneth Branagh, considering his asking price too expensive to both star in and direct the film.

The production shot mainly on location in Slovakia for nearly five months before digitally adding Draco; the shoot used real ruins and a 10th-century castle located in the center of the country.

Dennis Quaid broke a finger during a duel with David Thewlis and had to wear a cast during the last two weeks of filming.

The film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects for Scott Squires, Phil Tippett, James Straus and Kit West.

Liam Neeson was initially cast as Bowen, but the studio then felt audiences wouldn't accept him as an action hero, and the role went to Dennis Quaid.

Quotes by DragonHeart

All my life I've dreamed of serving noble kings, noble ideals. Dreams die hard and you hold them in your hands long after they've turned to dust. I will not be that naive again.
(flings a knight's corpse at Bowen and Gilbert) That's all that's left of the last dragon-slayer who tangled with me! If I were you, I'd quit while I was ahead!
(during Bowen and Draco's stalemate) Into the moonlit night the titans dueled, in mortal combat bound. Oh, who'd the fatal false step make? Whose blood would stain the ground? (yawns)
You should have eaten her.
Come, visit the woods! (drags Bowen through the trees)
Avalon, oh Avalon, for you I quest each day.
