New York, 1927. The American Magical Congress transfers dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald to Europe to stand trial, but the prisoner escapes during the journey. Three months later, Newt Scamander is in London, where he has asked the Ministry of Magic to lift the ban that keeps him from traveling abroad. Eddie Redmayne plays this magizoologist, and David Yates directs the film. There he runs into Leta Lestrange, his former Hogwarts classmate and the fiancée of his brother Theseus. The reunion with Leta draws him into a personal conflict he never expected, and the story unfolds through old loyalties and new threats.

It was a mistake in a stupid magazine. My brother's marrying Leta, June 6th. I'm supposed to be best man. Which is sort of mildly hilarious.
Mr. Scamander, I need to go talk to the Ministry-and I know how you feel about Aurors...
[fearfully] I do not like riding a boat, Newt.
You've been real kind, but my sister Tina's probably worried sick about me, you know. Banging on all the doors and things, so I think I'd better be going.
Their arrogance is a key to our victory.
