One year after solving the murders that shook the Baztán Valley, Amaia Salazar is pregnant and has one wish: to leave Elizondo and everything that happened there behind. As a homicide inspector with the Navarre Foral Police, her routine has barely changed when a case that doesn't add up reaches her. Several inmates have taken their own lives in their cells, and in each one the same word is written on the wall: «Tarttalo». Amaia knows that name belongs to a legend that has already marked her. The inspector is forced to return to ground she wanted to leave behind, with a pregnancy that is becoming more advanced and the suspicion that the past has not quite gone away.

Trivia about The Legacy of the Bones

The soundtrack includes «Luz y sombra», performed by singer Amaia Romero from Navarre, who wrote it with David Rodríguez (La Estrella de David) and recorded it with the Navarre Symphony Orchestra.

The third installment of the trilogy, Ofrenda a la tormenta, was scheduled to premiere on March 27, 2020, but its release was put on hold by the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain.

Its release met with mixed reviews from critics, according to the source consulted, after premiering at the 52th Sitges Film Festival on October 10, 2019.

«The Legacy of the Bones» and «Ofrenda a la tormenta» were shot back to back over 18 weeks in Barcelona and the Baztán Valley, a schedule that forced the crew to work out of the story's chronological order.

Filming for the two movies began on August 29, 2018 and brought back part of the original cast along with new additions such as Imanol Arias, Ana Wagener, Eduardo Rosa and Marta Larralde.

According to its IMDb profile, the film grossed $1,198,337 at the box office, although the available data does not specify the market this figure refers to.

The Academy of Cinema noted that Judge Markina, one of the characters most anticipated by readers of the novels, was joining the film adaptation in this film and its sequel.

During its third weekend in Spanish theaters, «The Legacy of the Bones» was in 16th place, with 300 screens, €642,955 earned over that weekend and €1,198,337 in total.
