Saving Private Ryan

Beginning with the Allied invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944, members of the 2nd Assault Battalion, under the command of Captain Miller, fight to take control of the beach. In the battle, two brothers are killed. Shortly before, in New Guinea, a third brother also dies. Their mother, Mrs. Ryan, is set to receive three death telegrams on the same day. The head of the U.S. Army, George C. Marshall, seizes the chance to ease Mrs. Ryan's suffering when he learns of a fourth brother, Private James Ryan, and decides to send 8 men (Captain Miller and a select group from his battalion) to find him and bring him home to his mother.
