The Invention of Lying

In an alternate reality where no one has ever lied, every sentence is the truth, or the sincere opinion of whoever says it, even if it's cruel or something you'd rather keep to yourself. Ricky Gervais stars as Mark Bellison, an ordinary man who lives in this society without knowing any other way to speak. The consequences of this absolute honesty are felt in everything around him: religious beliefs don't exist, and movies consist of reading historical accounts and brutally honest commercials. Mark moves among people who tell him exactly what they think of him without any filter, and his personal situation becomes harder and harder to bear in this environment.
