The sum of all fears

Jack Ryan is a CIA analyst, younger than the character in the earlier films of the franchise, and he works under his superior, William Cabot. Ryan still lacks the field experience of other agents and spends most of his time behind a desk. In Russia, a new president comes to power while barely known, and the agency isn't quite sure it can trust him. Ryan has to analyze the data and figure out what lies behind appearances, as tension rises between Washington and Moscow. The film is directed by Phil Alden Robinson and stars Ben Affleck as Ryan, with Morgan Freeman as Cabot.

Trivia about The Sum of All Fears

It is often assumed that the change from Arab villains to neo-Nazis was a reaction to 11/11, but filming wrapped in June 2001.
Harrison Ford left the project in June 2000 after failing to resolve the script problems with director Phillip Noyce, and Ben Affleck accepted the role in a deal worth 10 million dollars.
The interior scene of the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis was shot on a set that had previously been used for the series JAG.
The Pentagon did not look favorably on a scene in which an aircraft carrier blew up, so the script for that sequence was rewritten.
