The most unexpected comedy ever conceived.

Kassie Larson is a single woman who hasn't found love yet but has already decided she wants to be a mother. Her best friend, Wally, is a neurotic man who opposes the idea with all his might. Kassie, however, is not willing to wait any longer. She rules out a sperm bank and wants to meet a donor face to face, so she sets out to have a child on her own. The story takes place in New York, where the two have been close friends for years. It is directed by Will Speck and Josh Gordon and stars Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman.

In the DVD extras, Jennifer Aniston revealed that they had known Jason Bateman since she was 25 years old, and the producers and directors praised the great chemistry the two had while working together.

On a budget of 19 million dollars, the movie grossed 49.8 million worldwide, with 55.7% of that coming from its run in the United States.

Aniston was nominated for a Razzie Award for Worst Actress for her performance in the movie.

It was the last movie produced by Miramax Films while under Disney ownership, which sold Miramax to Filmyard Holdings on December 3, 2010.

Before its final title, the movie was called The Baster, and in each country it was released under a different title, such as Papá por accidente in Argentina and Chile, or The Switch in Spain.

Thomas Robinson was six years old when he shot the movie and landed the role after an audition in which, overwhelmed, he stopped acting to play during the test.

The movie raised legal concerns among its producers because its premise was similar to that of "The Back-up Plan," another comedy about artificial insemination that came out that same year.

Diane Sawyer's image was used, with her consent, in a masturbation scene starring Jason Bateman.
