Velvet Buzzsaw

Morf Vandewalt, an art critic, attends an exhibition accompanied by his friend Josephina, who works for Rhodora Haze, owner of the Haze Gallery. Rhodora was once a member of the punk rock band Velvet Buzzsaw, and now runs her business in an environment where money and prestige matter more than anything else. Josephina moves among gallerists, collectors and artists, and every conversation seems to hide a calculation. Morf observes this machinery with the eye of someone who writes about other people's work. The film sets this world in contemporary art, with an ensemble cast in which the story shifts from one character to another. It is directed by Dan Gilroy, who also wrote the screenplay, and the main cast is led by Jake Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo.
